Darren Newton

Associate Creative Director

Darren Newton is an American designer, programmer, and troublemaker who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as 'glue-sniffing installation art'. After a successful career as an office temp, Newton became famous in the Greenpoint, Brooklyn area for his work as a tattoo collector, gangster film afficionado, father, donut consumer, and neighborhood character known for his membership in wildly diverse social circles that included bohemian street people, distinguished pseudo-intellectuals, D-list celebrities and speed-metal enthusiasts.

Newton showed early artistic talent and studied fine arts at the University of Houston in the Republic of Texas and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Illinois. In 1999, he moved to New York City and began a successful career in online advertising and interface design. During the 2000s, he gained fame for his whimsical flash animations of shoe advertisements and financial application interfaces.

Compared to the success and scandal of Newtons's work in the early 2000s, the mid to late 2000s proved a much quieter decade, as Newton devoted much of his time to learning the intricacies of various programming languages and other geeky things.
