Extreme Website Edition – The week that was, in 10 links or less

Summer’s going out with a bang. Evidence earthquakes, hurricanes, Steve Jobs’ retirement and other disasters.

For starters, there’s businessy stuff along the lines of…

And then there’s fun stuff, like…

What’s your stuff like? Leave a comment—and be sure to drop a few links of your own.

SPF 100 – The week that was, in 10 URLs or less

We don’t know what it’s like where you are, but here in the CT we’re gearing up for an absolutely glorious weekend…

Weather permitting, take a few minutes to comment and, as always, send us some links of your own.

We’re baaaaack – The week that was, in 10 links or less

We’re baaaaack…

Just when you thought you had completely kicked the habit comes a fresh fix of links guaranteed to end the week on a high note.

  • Maybe they can levitate, maybe they can’t. The more important question is “How the hell did they travel back in time to 1973 and raid our Uncle Murray’s closet?”

Pleated jeans: They're not just for moms anymore

  • Speaking of Murray, it seems his borscht-belt schtick has finally caught on.
  • And while we’re on the judicial tip, consider this: Criminal vegetable gardens. I know a few 4-year olds who would agree completely.
  • Another point of consensus: wrinkles are kinda creepy, but (apparently) they’re functional.
  • Also functional (depending on what you’re into).
  • Not functional at all: Times Square after this jerk-wad got finished doing his thing.
  • Some peoples’ things are oddly compelling. Exhibit A).
  • And B).
  • Finally, we have tweets from space. Or perhaps they’re just another part of the government’s elaborate hoax. You decide.

Now that you’ve had your fun, leave a comment and/or send us a few of your own favorite links.

Hot Japanese Texts – The week that was, in 10 links or less

Let’s start a new tradition: weekly links that cover a range of topics, beginning with the important stuff, namely:

  • Free texts and calls to Japan (props to #VZ and #ATT)

Significantly less pressing, but nevertheless curiously interesting:

  • Time-waster of the week: identifying movie stuff.
  • It’s like hipster stuff, only less dangerous.
  • Speaking of dangers, being rich apparently has a big ol’ dark side.
  • And, in case you’re not already aware, not being rich is kind of a bitch, too.

As for the business of business, here’s pretty much all you need to know:

And how was your week?

Journalism? – The week that was, in 10 links or less

First, we urge you to take note of and share the week’s most important link:

  • Google’s person finder, which helps connect the missing with those who are looking for them.

Now, back to the URL merry-go-round:

  • The rise and fall and rise of ‘journalism’ today.
  • On that note, can a police scanner-ambient music mashup be considered journalism?
  • This just in: The job market’s starting to open up a bit. Flowing robes and grace required.
  • You don’t need to be the Dalai Lama to be happy (but being tall, Asian and Jewish helps).
  • We’d all be happy to save on airfare, but how many of us would bet on it?
  • Here’s a sure thing: Run afoul of Fb’s real-name policy, and you’re a goner. (Dogs, however, get a pass.)
  • Speaking of passes, check out this awesome collection of passive-aggressive office notes. If even a fraction of them are real, it’s enough to keep us coming back.

That’s it from Gabardine. What’ve you got to add?

The week that was, in 10 links or less

It’s almost February 14th, and love is SO in the air…

Surely you’ve recently become enamored of a few choice links, so send ‘em on!

The week that was, in 10 links or less

After a week’s respite, there’s SO much to point to, it’s hard to know where to begin…

  • How ’bout overseas, where the Egyptian government tried—and failed—to cut itself off from the rest of the world.
  • Or in China, where people may soon be required to see their families more often. (Hmmm, is it possible China is run by a consortium of Jewish mothers?)
  • Also beyond our borders is a quaint little town that breeds Internet lawlessness. You can just call it Hackerville.
  • Can’t make the trip ‘over there,’ wherever that may be? np, you can still hug it out.
  • Besides, there’s plenty of neat stuff right here in the good ol’ US of A, like Punxsutawney Phil telling us that spring is on its way.
  • And once our neighborhood glaciers recede, there’s bound to be lots of well-preserved, edible roadkill.
  • To cut the stench, you may be inclined to light up—but it better not be out & about in NYC.
  • Better to just stay home and mess with this super-cool NYC subway train visualization.
  • Or compare your doodles to those of famous authors.
  • If that’s too highbrow, follow the continuing saga of the Fualaaus which, by the time you read this, will probably have it’s own time slot on Bravo.

Hit us up with comments and/or a few choice links of your own, why don’tcha?

The week that was, in 10 links or less

Didja know that at one point this week, 49 of the 50 states had snow in ‘em? Fer realz! As an homage to the winter white stuff, we offer a blizzard of links:

  • Really? A mammoth?
  • Word is that’s what Starbucks wanted to call its new size; just didn’t look as nice alongside ‘venti.’
  • While we’re on the subject of sizes, you may need all new ones after going through the 50 meals you need to eat in 50 states before the apocalypse.
  • As for that other tragedy, the ‘aflockalypse?’ Well the mystery’s been solved. sorta.
  • Also solved: Crimes involving more than 100 mobsters, Baby Fat Larry among them—and that nickname doesn’t even rank in the top 5!
  • Squarely in a different top 5 is a little something we like to call FireHero.
  • We’re pretty sure it’s a big hit at institutions of higher learning (learning, apparently, is not).
  • But learning’s a funny thing. It’s awesome to find out something new
  • Even if it’s just a group of 1,022 proper nouns,
  • Or the fact that what you thought he said, she said.
Whatever you have to say can go right here…

The return of the week that was, in 10 links or less

We’re back with more links than we normally include in a single post—our gift to you for a great 2010 and an even better 2011…

Until then, feel free to comment on the above or pitch in with some URLs of your own. We always look forward to hearing from you.

The week that was, in 10 links or less

These are busy times at The Gab, what with client commitments and our Secret Snowflake program in full effect. Still, we know how much ’10 links or less’ means to you and, well, you’ve been such good girls and boys…

  • You deserve the best: The best video mix of 210 movies from 2010.
  • Also quite good: The cover of the Bowie/Crosby original.
  • While we’re harkening back, it’s weird and interesting to find out what yesterday’s visionaries thought 2011 would bring.
  • Need to bring gifts for a bunch of young’uns? Ask Evelyn Goldstein.
  • Do not ask about the Web 2.0 pioneering site del.icio.us. It’s riding off into the sunset.
  • Speaking of sun (or the lack thereof) remember Chernobyl? It’s now a tourist destination. Free neutrons!
  • Free IT help for those whose parents own computers.
  • And for those who don’t need much more than a computer to do their job, you probably won’t notice the big changes in the office.

You’re probably pressed for time, too. So take a minute now to comment on the links above and offer up a few of your own.
